The Colony Chamber of Commerce Advocacy Committee held an engaging government-update meeting on March 26, 2026, at The Rackhouse in The Colony. Representatives from local, county, state, and federal offices provided timely updates on issues affecting the City of The Colony and our business community.
While each update covered different levels of government, several themes were consistent: growth management in North Texas, infrastructure demands, workforce and education alignment, and the importance of maintaining a strong local business environment. These conversations reinforce the value of ensuring that business voices are heard early and often in public policy discussions.
The government representatives included each of the following who spoke to the core of the office they represented:
City Update – Mayor Richard Boyer, a longtime The Colony resident and dedicated leader focused on local growth and prosperity.
State Update – Texas State Senator Brent Hagenbuch (R-District 30), represented by Melanie Marx. Senator Hagenbuch is a business owner, veteran, and advocate for transportation, economic development, and conservative priorities in the Denton area.
Congressional Federal Update – U.S. Representative Brandon Gill (R-TX-26), represented by Mitch Kipp. Congressman Gill, the youngest Republican in Congress, represents Denton County and serves on key committees addressing border security, government efficiency, and economic strength.
Senate Federal Update – U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX), represented by Michael Flusche, North Texas Regional Director. Senator Cruz, who has served Texas in the U.S. Senate since 2013, is a passionate defender of limited government, economic growth, the Constitution, transportation, and pro-business policies.
Denton County Update – Commissioner Kevin Falconer (Precinct 2), a North Texas native serving since 2023 with a focus on infrastructure and county services.
LISD Update – Lewisville ISD Board President Jenny Proznick provided insights on education matters that impact families and the local workforce.
This event reflects the core mission of the Chamber’s Advocacy Committee—to serve as a bridge between the business community and decision-makers. Advocacy efforts are focused on three key areas:
· Engagement: Building relationships with elected officials and their offices at every level
· Communication: Sharing timely updates with members through the Chamber website and newsletter
· Action: Hosting forums, briefings, and events that inform and empower local businesses
The Advocacy Committee is also working to expand its visibility and impact, including developing regular policy updates, identifying key topics affecting local businesses, and increasing member awareness of how government decisions influence day-to-day operations.
As The Colony continues to grow, so does the importance of coordinated, business-focused advocacy. The Chamber remains committed to helping members stay informed, connected, and represented—ensuring that our community’s voice is part of the conversation shaping its future.
The Colony Chamber’s Advocacy Committee continues to deliver real value to members by building these important connections.
