About CISNT
The mission of Communities In Schools of North Texas (CISNT) is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. CISNT is an affiliate of the nation’s largest evidence-based dropout prevention program, which serves students, families, and campus communities across seven North Texas school districts.
Last year, CISNT served over 43,000 students across Cooke, Denton, and Wise counties with wraparound support services. By providing academic, behavioral, mental health, and basic needs support to students identified as being at risk of dropping out, CISNT impacts student success and believes that relationships with caring adults creates positive changes in their lives.

How CISNT Does It
Working in 62 schools across three counties, CISNT brings together a powerful network of partners, including businesses, volunteers, social service agencies, and educators, empowering them with the tools to stay in school and on track for graduation.
Each CISNT campus has a degreed, full-time staff member who utilizes a holistic approach developed from evidence-based, research-proven practices. Their individual, group, and whole-school services are tailored to meet the needs of students and the campus community. These Site Coordinators provide case management services across seven core components, which are grounded in five core beliefs.

Why It Matters
Across North Texas, 1 in 2 students is at risk of dropping out of school. Each year, 99% of CISNT students stay in school and remain on track for graduation. Last year, 100% of their students advanced to the next grade level, and 98.4% of seniors graduated. . Through holistic services that address students’ needs, CISNT helps students thrive in school and beyond. From food support and mental health counseling to college and career readiness and family engagement, CISNT does whatever it takes to empower students to succeed in school and in life.
Get Involved

Volunteer
CISNT believes that relationships, not programs, change lives. Join them in ensuring every child has a one-to-one relationship with a caring adult by becoming a CISNT Volunteer. Opportunities include:
- Individual Mentor
- Provide one-on-one support to a student by meeting weekly and walking alongside them throughout the school year.
- Commitment: Once a week, 30-60 minutes
- Leadership Group Mentor
- Support students in a group setting focused on building leadership skills and personal growth.
- Commitment: Typically once a month during school lunch
- Reading Buddy
- Help strengthen student literacy by supporting reading practice and comprehension activities.
- Commitment: Once a week
- Enrichment Coach
- Lead enrichment and executive functioning activities in small group settings, including topics such as anxiety management or clubs like soccer, music, or art. All activities are supervised by CISNT staff.
- Commitment: Typically one hour per week
