Public Safety &
Fire Protection
The Colony Police Department has 53 sworn officers, 17 civilian personnel and 26 marked patrol units. The patrol units are all equipped with computer terminals, as well as the critically important automated external defibrillation units. All vehicles also carry ‘stop sticks’ (tire deflation devices). Because of the close relationship they maintain with our homeowners associations, the department has received numerous national awards for its National Night Out participation.
The Colony Fire Department has 36 career firefighter/paramedics, one Fire Chief, one Assistant Fire Chief, one Deputy Chief/Fire Marshall and one Administrative Assistant. The Colony FD has an engine and a quint in front line service with an engine in reserve. The department operates two paramedic ambulances (Mobile Intensive Care Units) in front line service and one reserve ambulance. All apparatus are staffed with firefighter/paramedics 24 hours per day. The Colony opened its third fire station in November 2007, helping reduce response time to 5-6 minutes.
